John Randle’s selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday makes him the 28th member with direct ties to Texas.

Randle, born and raised in Hearne, played for Hearne High School and Texas A&M-Kingsville (then know as Texas A&I).

In his 14-year career, Randle was one of the most-recognizable players in the NFL during the 1990s. Randle, famous for an amazing intensity that helped him overcome a “smallish” size for a defensive tackle, trash talk and painting his face on game days, was of the most-feared and most-respected defensive players in the league.
